Rosh Hashanah family picnic; eating outdoors like Sukkot, but a big backyard instead of a small booth. Brisket sandwiches, potato salad, a circular Challah made from scratch. Singing along with the service while "muted", but we hear birds singing as the backup choir. And...100 fewer usher positions to fill!

Does brisket come that small? A whole kugel for 3? And what about the cakes? So much leftover to pick at, little by little.  Maybe this year it’s a different menu, honoring the planet, respecting our bodies as well as tradition. Acknowledging a different year. Still, apples and sweet honey.
